VinAgora Fresh - Introducing the Kunság wine region

Built around an exciting theme, we recommend wines that deserve your attention and can be the best accompaniment to the summer.

The myth of the weak "sand" wines of Kunság is the past. The present is uncompromising quality, technological discipline, and plenty of success. In recent years, the outstanding producers of the Kunság wine region have won the most prestigious recognition at many international wine competitions. To name just a few examples: Gal Chardonnay is in the top ten on Chardonnay du Monde, which is the "World Championship" of chardonnays, as well as their rosé and sparkling wines with multiple VinAgora Champion awards; Szentpéteri's gold medals at the Mondial du Rosé, or their last year's category victory among the rosé wines at the VinAgora International Wine Competition, and Attila Szentpéteri's victory this year in the noble battle for the title of the most successful young winemaker. We could continue the line indefinitely. The wine region also boasts two 'Winemaker of the Year' winners: Éva Gálné Dignisz won the title in 2013, while János Frittmann won the title in 2007.

Kunság is ideal for making fresh, crisp wines, whether it's fragrant whites, rosés, or beads and sparkling wines. Well-known popular varieties such as Olivér Irsai, Cserszegi spicy, Kékfrankos, or Ezerjó feel good here, but in recent years several wineries have confirmed local "exotic" varieties such as Nero, Generosa, Golden Mud-White, Kövidinka and Nectar with great success and high-quality products.

You can taste the best of the wine region in Rosalia, but there is no need to stop here. The beauty, natural treasures, and unique atmosphere of the Great Plain make it the perfect destination from a wine tourism point of view. If you can, visit the local wineries in person and get to know the cradle of kunság wines up close! And if you want more information about the wine region, visit the igazikunsag.net website.
