While harvest season was already in full swing on the vineyards, wine enthusiasts in the capital were not left without excitement either. In mid-September, one of autumn’s most anticipated events, the Budapest Wine Festival, once again brought a special atmosphere to the Buda Castle District. Toasts were accompanied by autumn sunshine and radiant weather, creating the perfect backdrop for wine tasting. Among nearly 30,000 visitors, alongside the local audience, there were notably many international guests at this year’s four-day event. For years now, the festival has not only been one of Hungary’s most significant wine events but also a prestigious meeting point in Central Europe, where wine lovers from all over the world can fall in love with Hungarian wines and meet the greats of the profession. Once again, the Wine Festival ensured that its diverse program offered real value to both the public and industry representatives.

In 2025, the guest of honor was the Tri-Nation Alliance, which brought the specialties of three distant wine regions to Budapest. Wines from Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa appeared at dedicated stands and thematic presentations, drawing much attention. New World styles, fresh and vibrant Sauvignon Blancs, complex Shirazes, and distinctive Pinotages refreshed the festival’s offerings and gave wine lovers new perspectives.
One of the most exciting highlights was the renewed VinAgora Interactive Wine Space, which quickly became a favorite spot for knowledge-thirsty visitors. More than 1,500 people engaged in playful challenges that introduced them to the world of wine through entertaining yet meaningful tasks. Completing the stations and skill-based courses not only brought smiles but also rewarded participants with small surprises.
Even those who simply strolled past the interactive tent could enjoy memorable experiences, as winemakers themselves shared secrets and intriguing stories. The informal yet professionally curated pop-up tastings were bustling with energy for good reason. Behind every sip lay personal experiences, family traditions, and passionate work, brought to life with the participation of 15 winemakers.
The festival atmosphere was enriched by a rich musical program. At the MVM stage lounge area, guests gathered to enjoy performances ranging from pop and easy-listening acts to intimate jazz concerts, creating a mood reminiscent of summer evenings. The harmony of wine and music offered many visitors a truly special atmosphere on the Halászó Gyerekek terrace. Alongside the music programs, the Kvaterka Talks also drew crowds, where renowned winemakers shared their thoughts, stories, and a behind-the-scenes look at their everyday work.

More than a thousand wines could be tasted at the festival, accompanied by an equally impressive gastronomic selection. Guests were tempted by premium-quality gourmet bites, Hungarian and international delicacies, signature dishes from star restaurants, and carefully crafted street food specialties. Whether seeking an elegant dinner or a light festival-style snack, everyone could find the perfect pairing for their glass.
The Wine Festival’s programs went beyond tastings and professional encounters. From Thursday to Saturday, the Mitiszol? Party VIP enlivened the evening scene, showcasing the evolving new face of the event. It aimed to demonstrate just how multifaceted the Wine Festival experience can be from the depth of professional content to carefree, liberating moments.
The community of wine lovers and the festival’s unique atmosphere once again confirmed that the Budapest Wine Festival is a grand event and a meeting place where quality and values take center stage. Here, everyone experiences the festival in their own way: some discover a rare variety, others are drawn to professional discussions, while for many, the most lasting memories are evenings spent with friends or enjoying the music programs. Though we all seek different experiences, within the walls of Buda Castle our stories become shared.
